You Get a Puppy And You Get A Puppy…

You Get a Puppy And You Get A Puppy…

(Disclaimer: I’m not really giving anyone a puppy. I was being funny like the Oprah thing.)

Our baby, Sunny

I don’t think that I blogged since we had the newest addition to our family. We have a dog, guys. I was never going to get one because I don’t like to pick up poop. I would 1000 times rather change diapers than pick up dog poop. We got a scoop claw thing and that seems to help. Oh and also I ask my husband to do it instead. That helps the most.

The dog is named Sunny. Originally the girls wanted to name her Sunflower, but we are mean parents. She can be a real bitch, but we still love her. -that’s funny word play. I’m not mean… well like only a mean parent, not to animals.

My favorite is she let’s out these long dramatic groans when I have the nerve to move when she’s laying on me, or when Kerry snores. She’s fitting in just fine.

Face It

Something else kind of exciting- I just ordered a Rodan and Fields face kit thing. I’m pretty excited to get started on that. Anyone use that? If you have wanted to try it and don’t have a person may I suggest my friend Laura. Find her here I totally plan on taking before and afters. Stay tuned for 60 days people. You don’t have to stay in the one spot. Feel free to go and then come back.

Don’t Do It Mandelynn

Ugh! It’s taking everything I have not to turn political. I started this as a way to bond with other people over fun things. I’m going to try super hard to keep it that way. Not promising some things won’t sneak in though. Because I’m only human! Only Human!

Can’t Get Enough Me? Don’t Worry-It’s Common

I am still writing on babygaga. Usually I have at least two articles a week go up there. Here is my latest one:

15 Latest WTF Pregnancy Trends

Also I started submitting other places again. I am so lucky that babygaga took me on as a writer, but it’s so hard to come up with 15 reasons why for everything. I mean, like here are 15 reasons why it’s hard to do that.

15) my attention span peters out at about 8

14) did i say 8? I meant a different number…

I kid, I’m being funny guys. Remember when we did that together? Like this, but better. We will get it back. We are laughing.

The Future

The Future
The Future

Alright. I’ve been missing for a little bit of time. I am back. With an important thing to discuss:

who was it that decided we needed to pluck eyebrows?

I want us to change this practice of eyebrow grooming for the following reasons:

  1. I don’t feel like it anymore.
  2. It’s cold where I am and I need the precious eyebrow hairs to help stop my face from freezing.
  3. It hurts to pluck eyebrows, wax them, or zap them off.
  4. I think that I got them all and then I look in my rear view mirror and notice that I still have a unibrow.
  5. I can be more expressive with the more eyebrows I have theoretically.
  6. I don’t want my chin hairs to get lonely by not having the eyebrow hairs around to family plan.

what do i even want to do in the future?

The other reason for this post is I’m trying to decide whether or not to do some more blogging. I’ve had a couple people reach out for some opportunities for the blog, but I can’t quite decide if that is what i should do.

Anybody out there have any thoughts- maybe want to be my life coach (for free) in the future and tell me what to do? You over there- what are your thoughts?

psst- I’m going to ask anyone trying to contact me  for work to not read this part.

(I guess my concern is I don’t always have the self confidence to charge people for advertising etc. and yet it does make sense if you do work to be paid. It does, right? I say right too much, huh?)

how did this whole Trump thing happen, guys?

What happened while we weren’t talking through the blog every so often? Did you guys give up hope?  I mean i still love you. I’m just disappointed is all.

I am in another book coming out in March. It’s available for presale now. I wrote a poem. That’s kind of fun, right? The clickable link is below.

Goal Met

Guys. Guys! Guys! Guys? Guys. So I have been a little bit distant. It’s for good reason. I got a writing job and it pays so much better than the boss of this site. (Yes the boss of this site is me- that’s my classic OhMandelynn humor comin’ atcha!)

I just don’t have the time to do both, so you may not see much from me here.

If you are still interested in me (I hope I was more to you than a passing fling) then please keep up with me on the below site. The 1st link will take you to all the writing I have done at Babygaga so far and the one below that is the most recent article I have written. Views and shares are a way of telling the bosses that you like what I am doing (or conversely if you hate it, don’t click on it or they will get the wrong idea.) These articles are going to have more of a point and not all of them will be valuable information for you (example being an article about Hysterical Pregnancies I’m working on right now)- but others hopefully will entertain with the same flavor as I have tried to do here.

I may try to pop in to give updates on projects I’m doing if there are any new ones in the works, but if you want to steadily see some Classic Mandelynn writing the below site is the place you will find it. Follow me at ohmandelynn on facebook to see new pieces shared through there and keep better track of me and all that I find entertaining.

Children’s Author Claressa Swensen Made Me An Offer I Couldn’t Refuse

Children’s Author Claressa Swensen Made Me An Offer I Couldn’t Refuse

The lovely author Claressa Swensen made me an offer I couldn’t refuse this week. The offer was to read children’s books and let her know what I think. Well, I happen to love giving opinions and reading children’s books. Below are three books she shared with me.

My girl’s loved the middle book the best. I guess they could start their own blog to tell you about it, but I thought it would be a little faster for me to let you know on here.

Dino Dino Doing Homework by Claressa Swensen

This book is reminiscent of the Llama Llama Books by Anna Dewdney. I say that as a huge, huge compliment as we really love those books around these parts. The rhyming scheme feels natural and leads you through the story in a sing song happy way. When reading to my daughters I slipped effortlessly into the characters and the flow of the story while reading aloud.

The moral of the story was (spoiler alert) that you should do your homework before all the playing. This is definitely a book we will revisit when we get back into the school year. I absolutely love the illustrations. The simple, bold pictures and colors feel like a relief to my eyes. That seems an odd way to explain, but it just brings me joy the way the layout of words and pictures go.

Teensy The Littlest Fairy by Claressa Swensen

There she is! Our favorite little lady!

This book turned out to be the favorite of my daughters (4 and 6) in the three we read by this author. I was happy to see the range Claressa Swensen has when we moved into this book. This story was not rhyming. The main character named Teensy was displeased with her size.

I thought that I knew the direction this story was going and it threw me a little curveball. How fun to still get surprises from a children’s book at my (slightly older) age. The story encourages eating vegetables and it actually packs a nice bit of info on the different tastes.

Again I have to take a moment to give the illustrator a pleased shout out. My girls fell in love with the fairy drawings, the caterpillar, and the butterflies. We were pretty excited by this book.

Nap Time With Harry by Claressa Swensen

This book was a happy story about twin siblings and their dream car friend Harry. I very much liked the encouragement this book had to sleep. To be fair I am a huge fan of sleep, so there was a natural appreciation for this book right off the bat.

Honestly my daughters were wanting to read about Teensy again while I read this aloud. I really wanted them to be taking notes on how happy Tony and Tina were about nap time. I can’t fault them for still thinking about their new friend Teensy. Having been introduced to a few new character friends today it’s only natural to pick favorite.

I don’t know if I mentioned this previously, but the illustrations are a stroke of genius. A great team up with the author. I look forward to reading this one a few more times. This story is a good send off to bed time with the rainbow slide and Harry. We talk often about happy things we are going to dream about to keep any scary dreams away. This book brilliantly gives us some more things to imagine as we drift off.
